Response to Shea Hembrey's Work
Based on the work that I saw by Shea Hembrey I was given the impression that contemporary art isn't as limited as art once was. I feel that before a person was restricted by what was done already with the medium, but now suddenly you can find yourself facing dilemmas like what would be the meaning of a specific action. The action that would be facing inspection would not necessarily have to be something done in a medium that would normally be used such as clay or oil paint. Specifically when one of Hembrey's characters had made the piece with a single patch of moisture outside. In that moment I came to the realization that an art piece can be one that can speak for itself like classical works or it could be closer to something like Marcel Duchamp's works where the meaning was where the piece lied not necessarily the product. Art as a whole has changed and you can see many of those changes in art within Hembrey's works.
