Shea inspires me, his work is so close to him and makes me feel good from the inside when I view and hear his explanation about it. He is very well rounded and impressive in his skill from installations, sculptures, photos, painting, drawings and general concept. He carries specific beliefs and rules to making art, which should be passed around, to everyone, they make incredibly successful work. A few of his beliefs are “The Meemah Test” which is his rule if you can’t explain it to your grandmother in five minutes then it’s not worth making; also the 3H’s which stand for Head (smart and great ideas in work), Heart (the effort and care one puts into creating the work), and Hand (the work being made with great craftsmanship). His idea of making up and creating works from 100 artists in ingenious to me. I truly admire him as an artist and strive to make work as great as he does. He created a new standard and hope for artists today, making work known and making a living off of his pieces and taking the time to create each idea and work so skillfully and thought-out.
